On September 9, 2012, at 2000 universal coordinated time, a Cessna 172N, U.S. registration N1009F, was destroyed when it impacted the ground after the pilot lost control after takeoff. The pilot and three passengers were fatally injured. The pilot was conducting scenic flights in the vicinity of Acreúna Municipality, State of Goiás, Brazil.

RIO DE JANEIRO – All four people aboard were killed when a single-engine airplane crashed during a sightseeing flight over the central Brazilian state of Goias, authorities said.

The accident took place around 4:30 p.m. Sunday in the municipality of Acreuna, 157 kilometers (97 miles) from Goiania, the state capital.

Killed were the pilot and three passengers: sisters Franciele and Andressa Alves Freitas, ages 19 and 14, respectively; and Nivia Maria Gomes Barros, 24.

The aircraft fell from the sky and hit the ground about 500 meters (1,600 feet) from the runway at the Acreuna flying club. Authorities are investigating to determine the cause of the crash.

Witnesses said the pilot/owner charged passengers 50 reais ($25) each for sightseeing flights. EFE

The aircraft’s pilot, Gary Paul Costa e Silva, 42, and three passing, name Francielle Alves Freitas, 19 years; Andressa Alves Freitas, 14, and Maria Gomes Nívia Barros, 24, died in the accident. They were doing a flight ‘scenic’ by the city, and each paid $ 50.00.

Francielle and Andressa are sisters. By telephone, the father of Francielle, entrepreneur Afrânio Rodrigues da Costa, said she leaves a daughter of 5 months old.

The housewife, Laura Arantes Candida, 50, lives near the airfield, and also says that the aircraft was scenic flights in the amount of $ 50 per person. The owner of the single-engine plane would have taken advantage of the motion this holiday weekend, when Acreúna performs the Agricultural Exhibition, to offer the attraction.

Misshel Faria, commander of the Fire Department of Santa Helena (GO), who attended the event, said: “The prefix N1009F, which is on the aircraft, there is (in Brazilian records). As the plane came from the United States, is probably not certified to fly in Brazil, “he explained.

The causes of the accident will be investigated by Cenipa.

 

Monomotor que fazia voos panorâmicos por R$ 50 cai e mata quatro pessoas em Acreúna (GO)

A queda de um avião monomotor de prefixo N1009F provocou a morte de quatro pessoas, na tarde deste domingo (9), na cidade de Acreúna (157 km de Goiânia).
O acidente foi registrado por volta das 16h30. Na queda, morreram o piloto, ainda não identificado, duas moradoras da cidade –as irmãs Franciele Alves Freitas, 19, e Andressa, 14 –e uma moradora da vizinha Caçu –a jovem Nívia Maria Gomes de Barros, 24.
O acidente ocorreu a cinco quilômetros da cidade, próximo ao aeroclube local. A área da queda foi  isolada por policiais militares e por oficiais do Corpo de Bombeiros, e os corpos ainda não foram retirados, segundo informações do sargento da Polícia Militar Iraci Costa.
Sogro de uma das vítimas, Franciele, Afrânio Rodrigues da Costa, 55, contou que o monomotor estava na cidade realizando voos panorâmicos a R$ 50 por passageiro. Segundo ele, as duas irmãs foram levadas ao aeroclube pelo pai delas, que assistiu à decolagem.
De acordo com Costa, minutos após decolar, o avião caiu de ponta. “Os familiares assistiram à queda. Está todo mundo muito triste”. Ele disse que na tarde de sábado (8) a aeronave apresentou problemas durante um voo na cidade.
Uma moradora de Acreúna, Marta Alves de Oliveira Aires, 40, contou que um vizinho dela fez um voo ontem à tarde e registrou os problemas do monomotor. Por telefone, ela relatou ao UOL que ele gravou pelo celular os momentos em que o avião perdeu altitude e quase caiu. “Ontem (sábado), houve problemas, então, o correto seria parar as viagens e realizar manutenção. Essa tragédia seria evitada”, avaliou.
O caso será investigado pela Polícia Civil. A perícia será realizada pela Polícia Técnico-Científica de Rio Verde, município vizinho. Não há ainda informações sobre quem seria o dono da aeronave.
